Last Updated: December 2024Important: Please Read Before Your Treatment
It is your responsibility to disclose all relevant medical conditions, medications, and health concerns prior to receiving treatment. Failure to do so may result in adverse outcomes and will void any money-back guarantee.
1 Not a Substitute for Medical Care
The massage therapy services provided by My Healing are intended for pain relief and wellness purposes only. They do not replace:
- Professional medical diagnosis
- Treatment prescribed by licensed healthcare professionals
- Medications prescribed by your doctor
- Emergency medical care
If you have a medical condition, please consult your healthcare provider before beginning any new treatment plan, including massage therapy.
2 What You Must Disclose
Before your treatment, you must inform the therapist if you have any of the following:
Medications
Blood thinners, anti-inflammatory drugs, steroids, painkillers, or any medication that may affect treatment outcomes.
Cardiovascular Conditions
High blood pressure, heart disease, pacemakers, or history of heart attack or stroke.
Pregnancy
Current pregnancy (especially first and third trimesters) or recent childbirth.
Blood Pressure Issues
History of high or low blood pressure, as massage can affect circulation.
Cancer or Recent Surgery
Current or recent cancer diagnosis, or any surgery within the past 6 months.
Skin Conditions
Eczema, psoriasis, open wounds, rashes, or any contagious skin conditions.
Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)
History or suspicion of blood clots — massage can dislodge clots and cause serious complications.
Recent Injuries
Fractures, sprains, strains, or any recent trauma within the past 6 weeks.
Chronic Pain Conditions
Fibromyalgia, arthritis, chronic fatigue syndrome, or other ongoing pain conditions.
Allergies & Sensitivities
Allergies to massage oils, lotions, or any topical products.
Warning: Non-disclosure of relevant medical conditions voids the 7-day money-back guarantee and releases the therapist from liability for any adverse outcomes.
3 Infectious Diseases
If you have or suspect you have any contagious or infectious condition, you must cancel or reschedule your appointment. This includes:
- Flu, cold, or COVID-19 symptoms
- Fever
- Contagious skin infections
- Any other communicable illness
Receiving treatment while contagious poses a risk to both you and the therapist. Please reschedule — we will not charge a cancellation fee for illness.
4 Contraindications
Massage therapy is not appropriate under the following circumstances unless cleared by a medical professional:
- Fever, cold, or flu symptoms
- Active cancer treatment (without medical clearance)
- Severe osteoporosis
- Recent heart attack
- Uncontrolled high blood pressure
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or blood clots
- Open wounds or severe skin conditions in the treatment area
The therapist reserves the right to refuse or modify treatment based on your disclosed conditions for your safety.
5 During Your Treatment
To ensure safe and effective treatment:
- Communicate: Provide honest and timely feedback during treatment. If something hurts or feels uncomfortable, tell the therapist immediately.
- Pain levels: Some discomfort during deep tissue work is normal, but sharp or severe pain is not. Speak up.
- Medications: Be aware that painkillers may dull sensations, leading to insufficient feedback and potential over-treatment.
Tip: The more you communicate with your therapist, the better your treatment outcomes will be.
6 Results & Expectations
While every effort is made to provide effective pain relief:
- Individual results vary. What works for one person may differ for another.
- One session may not be enough. Depending on your condition, multiple treatments may be required.
- Some temporary soreness is normal. Mild soreness for 24-48 hours after deep tissue work is common and expected.
- Follow aftercare advice. Drink water, rest, and follow any specific recommendations given by your therapist.
7 Acknowledgment of Risk
By receiving treatment from My Healing Medical Massage Therapy, you acknowledge that:
- You have fully disclosed all relevant medical conditions, medications, and health concerns.
- You understand that massage therapy carries inherent risks and is not a substitute for medical care.
- You release the therapist from liability for any injury, adverse effects, or complications arising from non-disclosure of pertinent medical information.
